New Strainmeter Monitoring Crustal Deformation And Earthquake (please check the Photo Page for more info)

Introducing the Shallow Bore-Hole Super-Broad-Band Strain-Seismo-Meter PCS-2 Developed by Dr. Shunliang Chi

Dear Colleagues of Earth Science:

After 25 years' research and experiment, Dr.Shunliang Chi, Director of Hebi Seismological Bureau and Institute of Earth Strain, has successfully developed a new Shallow-Bore-Hole Super-Broad-Band Strain-Seismo-Meter(PCS-2) that can monitor crustal deformation and ground motion with great accuracy and efficiency. It can gather both tidal and seismic data and even underground audio signal. With its low cost and easy-to-use, PCS-2 is ideal for monitoring crustal deformation and earthquake research. We believe that the widespread use of this instrument will greatly promote earth tide study and the research on earthquake prediction. Now we would like to present this instrument to seismologists and geophysicists all over the world. The instrumental specifications are as follow:

Sensitivity: 1*10^(-11)
Band Wide: 0-1000Hz
Daily Drift: <1*10^(-9)
Installation Depth: 30-60m
M.S.E. of Semi-diurnal wave (M2): 0.0014
Size: 600mm in height; 110mm in diameter
Sensor: 2-4 components capacitance sensor

Last year Dr. Chi has finished the building of a PCS-2 station net(with five PCS-2 installed in four stations) of Hebi City. It's the first digital telemetric net of earth strain in China.
If you have a look on the tide and quake plots in the PHOTO PAGE, you will agree that PCS-2 is the best bore-hole strainmeter in the world.
